WHY and WHEN or WILL Customers Come Back?

When will your customer come back?It’s only a matter of when customers come back after the matter of IF they will come back.
Living by default is a very precarious way of doing business. Thinking that your business is more convenient, better than the rest, has cheaper prices, is more friendly, or has the best selection is living by default.

First a little Multiple Choice test:

Do you feel taken for granted when you shop in a store or do business with a company?


a.     ___ Never
b.     ___ Occasionally
c.     ___ Sometimes
d.     ___ Often


That’s a fair question and one your customer asks themselves (at least subconsciously) when they complete every transaction with us.  The trouble is that customers don’t WANT to choose where they do business by default. They choose based on the best available choice they know of.  It’s a matter of “What have you done for me lately?”


What have you done for your customers lately?

 

  1. Do you offer something unique that can’t be bought elsewhere – regardless of the price? Do they know about it? Do they care?
  2. Do you engage your customer in a way that they know you appreciate their business and that you’re not taking them for granted? If we asked them, would they agree?
  3. Do you follow-up with your customers to make sure they were satisfied with the product or service they purchased from you? Were they really?

Did you do one or more of these things with each customer the last time they were there, and is that why they are there today, or did they arrive by default?  Will the customers coming through your business today be back? Why? When? How do you know? Will your customers arrive by default in the future?  If your advantage in your marketplace is being there by default we wish you good luck.
